Benefits of juicing

Samantha owns a cold-pressed juice and smoothie bar in Craighall, Johannesburg – Bliss Juicery. She has always had a passion for nutrition and healthy living. Her background is in finance. However; after a few short years in the corporate world she decided to follow her passion. She studied nutrition through the Sports Science Institute at UCT. She is always on the lookout for healthy alternatives when it comes to food, fitness or lifestyle.
Both myself and my mom, with whom I own Bliss Juicery, have always been interested in nutrition. We wanted to start something together that would combine our passion for nutrition and desire to encourage others to lead a healthier lifestyle. After a bit of research we came across the concept of juicing – particularly cold-pressed juicing. It has been very popular overseas over the past few years but is fairly new in SA. What started off at home , turned into a full time business – and we are happy to share the benefits of juicing with everyone.
We know juicing can be quite time consuming and daunting at times but it doesn’t have to be! Through my series of blog posts we hope to share with you some quick and easy juice and smoothie recipes – some targeting specific medical issues and some- just for fun.
While cold-pressed juicing is preferable when it comes to a pre-bottled juice – the more common centrifugal method of juicing is perfect for at home- as long as you consume the juice straight after making it .This ensures that you are getting the maximum amount of nutrients.
