JUST JUICING

You are what you eat!!
I am passionate about healthy nutrition and the amazing wellness benefits it brings.
My husband had been trying for months to persuade me to start juicing, and like many wives out there, I dutifully ignored him……..
Until one day ,when packing my store room, I uncovered the juicer (still brand new).
I dusted off my NUTRICENTER …..
And the rest……. as they say ,is history…….
As a family, we have been juicing almost daily for about two years now ….Last year I even drove back home to fetch the juicer after having forgotton it en-route to our annual holiday…….much to the horror of my kids…..
The health benefits we have experienced first hand, have been fantastic… more energy and vitality, glowing skin and improved immunity , especially during the winter cough and cold season. The biggest benefit for me was that my eczema cleared up…obviously I was deficient in minerals and nutrients I was now getting from my juice!
So when I met Samantha at her juicery, I found a kindered spirit. She will be posting a monthly blog with fun and informative juicing recipes and ideas. Be sure to check out the guest blog section!
Juicing is not new. Some of the first documented evidence of humans “juicing for health” come from the Dead Sea Scrolls as far back as 150 BC.
“A pounded mash of pomegranate and fig” leading to “profound strength and subtle form”
In Peru and Korea, traditionally, juicing greens used to form part of healing rituals. Fruit and vegetables were ground up in a pestle and mortar. The first juicers!
It is only in this last century that machines became more hi-tech and words like centrifugal, masticating and cold press became part of our juicing language.
Modern juice machines ensure that the maximum nutritional benefits are extracted from our greens.
Naturally low in calories and high in fibre, fruits and vegetables help with weight loss and are packed with antioxidants and phytochemicals that help prevent serious disease. Research shows that people who consume generous amounts of fruits and vegetables have a reduced risk of stroke, Type 2 diabetes, certain cancers, cardiovascular disease, and hypertension.
Here is an interesting fact:
90% of the antioxidant action in fresh produce is in the fruit, and not the fiber. Juicing removes the fibre from fresh produce, allowing the body to absorb and assimilate nutrients far quicker than the usual route of eating the fibre.
If you want to include the fibre in your juicing, there are juicers out there like the NUTRIBULLET that will allow you to do so.
If you are new to juicing and want to buy a machine……. Or even if you just want to upgrade an existing machine……. Check out this link: http://juicing-for-health.com/what-to-look-for.html
It gives the most comprehensive reviews on juicing machines!
I have 3 juicers on my kitchen counter(my old and trusty centrifugal workhorse –NUTRICENTER……….my snazzy new NUTRIBULLET for when I want to include fiber and seeds………….and my NUVINGS……..a masticating juicer which extracts the most out of berries and leaves)
THESE ARE THE MOST USED APPLIANCES IN MY HOME
JUST ON A CAUTIONARY NOTE
Please note that juicing should be part of a balanced nutritional programme that involves all areas of healthy living. It is not for everyone and in some medical conditions, like Diabetes, it can be dangerous if done incorrectly. It should certainly not be your only source of nutrition.
Please consult your doctor before embarking in this life changing health benefit.
